The punishment of the 7 Stars of the Nirankari's
How Babbar Khalsa got revenge for the Panth and punished the 7 Nirankari Stars
“Our targets are only those Nirankaris who were involved in the Baisakhi killings of 1978, and those police officers who are guilty of torturing and humiliating Sikh youth”
-Jathedar Sukhdev Singh Ji Babbar'
When Babbar Khalsa formed in 1978, its first goal was to kill the Nirankari head, Gurbachan Singh, and the Nirankari seven stars, who were the Sant Nirankari version of the Panj Pyare. The Stars had been key perpetrators of the killings of Sikhs in Amritsar, Delhi, Haryana, and more places.
Pratap Singh
He was not only a Nirankari star, but he was also the fake Guru’s driver, and his bodyguard. He was killed with the fake Guru. The 2 sinners had just returned in the fake Guru’s 1972 model black Mercedes Benz to his palatial headquarters on Delhi's northern fringe after addressing a congregation of his supporters in Paharganj in central Delhi. As the fake Guru alighted from the front seat of the sedan, six carbine shots shattered the calm. One of the bullets pierced his chest, and another hit the second sinner, Pratap Singh. This action was done by Bhai Ranjit Singh, Bhai Kabul Singh, Bhai Major Singh Nagoke, and others who were aided by the warriors of Babbar Khalsa. According to a different account of this action, told by Bhail Sulakhan Singh Ji, Partap once opened his car door and walked out. Bhai Ranjit Singh Ji yelled out, “Oh Pratapaa” Pratap said, “What is it?” Bhai Sahib said, “Where are you going?” Pratap said, “I am going to my mother to tell her that someone has done bhog of the Baba.” Bhai Sahib said, “This is completely wrong. When the Baba is in the media you’re with them. When the Baba is holding a yatra you’re with him. When you become a Star you’re also with him. We’re not going to let his follower be without him. Go join your Baba in Hell.” He was shot 3 times in the back and killed.
Lala Jagat Narain
Narain was not only a Nirankari star, but he was also a former MLA, MP, and Congress leader. He was also the founder of Hind Samachar which would spew venom about Sikhi. Not only did he try to undermine Punjabi, he also said the Sikh gurus were "lovers of wine and women" in his newspapers. He also defended the Nirankari Guru by giving a false testimony in court to get him off the hook. Sant Janrnail Singh Ji had given Bhai Nacchatar Singh Ji and other Singh’s the duty of doing bhog of this pappi. They were helped by Bhai Talwinder Singh Ji Parmar and other warriors of Babbar Khalsa. Turde firde Singh age see. In the early hours of September 8, 1981, Nachhatar Singh parked the bike next to the car and composed himself before taking aim, Lala was crying and screaming for help, and the driver had become as white as a ghost. Nachhatar Singh pulled the trigger on the .32 Revolver 4 times, with 2 shots piercing Lala’s skull and one in his torso. The 4th shot went through and carved into the driver Somnath’s face. Bhai Nachhatar Singh let off the Khalsa War Cry of Bollleeee Soo Nihaaalll… Sat Sri Akaaallllllll. All the Singhs yelled Khalistan Zindabad slogans and fired shots in the air as they departed the scene revving the motorcycle.
Gurdaspur Deputy Commissioner Niranjan Singh
He had been transferred before as the Government had realized that the Stars were being killed. Still one day Babbar’s yodhe arrived to him. As soon as he saw the warriors he ran saving himself. The warriors opened fire injuring him and killing his guard. He was with his brother Shinda. The Babbar’s decided to kill Shinda knowing he would be no better than his brother. A famous Kavishri lyric about this says, “Those that come into the hands of lion have neither their skin nor their bones left.”
Prahlad Chand
He was also the chief of Nirankari’s in Kapurthala. He owned a store. One day 2 brave warriors of Babbar Khalsa came to him. They opened fire and killed him in an instant. He was with his father, who was killed as well, and his brother, who was injured.
Shaadi Lal
He was killed in Chandigarh which was the capital of Punjab, and Haryana. This killing truly shook the Nirankaris and the government to their core. He was killed by Bhai Kulwant Singh Ji Nagoke and Jathedar Sukhdev Singh Ji Babbar.
Bakshir Singh
It is unknown whether he was killed, but one would assume he was.
Resham “Roshan” Singh
He was head of the Nirankari’s in Hoshiarpur District. The following account is taken directly from Sher Dil Shaheed Bhai Surinder Singh Sodhi and is merely translated by me.
April 13, 1978, in the holy premises of Amritsar Singh’s were massacred by fake Nirankaris. The Singhs were brutally killed during that bloody day. After Sri Akal Takht Sahib issued a Hukamnama against fake Nirankari’s, the Singhs began killing each and every one of them… On October 27, 1982, Roshan the 7th Star had his hair open, after taking a bath, in his house in Nangal Khana.
Then three young men in police uniforms came on a motorcycle. Roshan Star thought that they were police officers of Hoshiarpur. Roshan Star welcomed and addressed them saying, “Dhan Nirankar. Dhan Nirankar. Come sit.” The man in police uniform sitting in the back of the motorcycle said, 'Mahanpurkho, we have come from Hoshiarpur. Our duty is to patrol. Tell me if there is any problem.” Roshan Star said, “By the grace of Satguru one cannot even look at the wind near me. Come sit and drink tea.” Roshan called out to his wife and said, “Come and bring four chairs.” She brought the chairs with two servants. It was evening at the time. They placed the chairs and passed out tea for the policemen.
The policemen neither turned off the motorcycle nor sat on the chairs. A young man in the uniform of a Thanedar, with a Stengun on his shoulder, and a hand in his pocket, looked around, scanning the area. A mona officer started talking to Roshan Star and said "Mahapurakh, it is said you are on Bhindranwale’s hit-list. Don’t go out and travel that much. Our police record says something along the lines of that you were with, the late, Nirankari Gurbachan Singh during the incident on April 13, 1978. Terrorists do not speak well of you.” Nirankari Roshan Star started saying, “What can they do? These Sikhs are cowards. They killed Satguru Gurbachan Singh by staying in his house at Delhi Pahar Ganj. If they had come announced, then, like in Amritsar, we would have slaughtered them. I can hit people with my rifle even at a Kilometer away. In Amritsar, we came to stare at the lions. Satguru Gurbachan Singh asked us, what is the order. We said, Satguru ji, we cannot tolerate the disrespect shown to you by the Sikhs. Today the hooves of the Nihangs will make noise under your feet. We have tolerated a lot, but now no more. Satguru Gurbachan Singh did not fire a single shot. We, the 7 Stars, after paying attention to Satguru, started the fire of our 7 guns together. Then the Sikhs had no way to escape. The servants of Sant Nirankari Sewa Dal then demolished the Sikhs and did not let them leave unhurt. Some were killed, more than 150 were shot. It would have been good if Bhindranwala, the root of the conflict, would have seen Saint Nirankari Mandal’s power.”
A Sikh in a police uniform said, "Stop there you dusht. Don’t even dare to utter a single word against Sant Ji." The mona officer pointed and pushed the barrel of the Stengun into Roshan’s back. “We are Sant Bhindranwale’s Sikhs. The Thanedar said, “Kill this inbreeder. What are you waiting for.”
The Sikh officer pushed the trigger of the Stengun. Kraa, kraa, kraa. The sound of 34 shots went out. The birds flew away. Roshan fell from his chair, riddled with bullets from the Stengun. The hair left open after bathing was covered with dirt and blood. The policeman kicked the motorcycle and took his colleagues and fell on the dirt road, blowing dust. His wife was making tea and bringing it in a cup tow. When she came outside after hearing the sound of the Stengun firing, Roshan fell down from the chair. She screamed and dropped the tea glasses. Screaming, she kept her hand on the head of Roshan and started crying. The seventh star of the fake Nirankari mission was finished by the Sikhs.
The gang of Jujharu Singh - Bhai Surinder Singh Ji Sodhi, Bhai Sukhdev Singh Ji Sukha Kakkar, and General Labh Singh Ji, who came in police uniform, had finished the final star and escaped. The sound of Sodhi's Royal Enfield motorcycle could be heard far away. Singh’s were happily firing bullets in the air.
In this manner, the Singh’s of Babbar Khalsa with other Shaheeds finished off the Seven Stars of the Nirankari.
